This piece is a human anatomy study, where I began by constructing simplified bones to better understand proportion and key anatomical landmarks. I then sculpted the muscle groups, starting from the torso and progressing to the arms and upper legs. The work is still in progress, as I’m yet to finish the lower legs and hands, but I’m pleased with the current results. I created this model live during demos and tutorials with my students, which made the process both educational and rewarding.
For reference, I used Anatomy for Sculptors and Ryan’s anatomical model to guide muscle placement and form. Muscle groups have been colour-coded according to the Anatomy for Sculptors conventions. This study has deepened my understanding of muscle origins, insertions, and functions. I plan to return to this piece to complete the hands and feet, and eventually add facial anatomy. Any further anatomy studies I undertake will be added here as part of my ongoing learning and portfolio development.
